Salamanther hearts have a very low drop rate right now- took me nearly twenty minutes of killing to get one to drop. Hopefully not intended.

Edit: drop rate was fixed; got one within five kills!

River Reed - Found along the waterline
Salamanther Heart - Might take a few more kills than one likes to get from killing Mudwalker Salamanthers who can be found in the water or/and along the waterline
Fowl Tailfeathers - You can pluck these from the Jadethroat Mallards, you do not need to kill the birds (unless they get mad at you)

I present You Storyline Into the Plains. This Storyline is part of Ohn'a'Roll which is criteria for Loremaster of the Dragon Isles.

Storyline in order I done it:

1. Next Steppes - Fly to 48.2 88.6
2. Into the Plains - Move to 77.7 23.9
3. Proving Oneself - Slay Blazing Proto-Dragon 78.7 26.8
4. Welcome at Our Fire - Move to 85.3 25.3
5. The Shikaar - Speak with Sansok Khan 85.7 25.3
6a. Making Introductions - Speak with 3 NPC - Aru 85.7 26.5 , Beastmaster Nuqut 83.9 25.9 and Ohn Seshteng 85.6 20.9
6b. Supplies for the Journey - Pick up 5 Feralbloom Pod ( around villade ) and 4 Camp Provisions ( 86.1 25.3 inside bulding , 84.2 27.1 , 84.3 24.8 , 84.3 23.1 )
8. Toward the City - Go to 83.2 23.7 and speak with Scout Tomul to start caravan, now you can listen stories or just fly 75.6 31.6.
9a. For Food and Rivalry - Kill animals around to get 30 Fresh Game Meat.
9b. Mysterious Beast - Quest start from Mysterious Paw Print 76.7 32 go to cave 77.7 35.4 and slay Konkhular to get Pelt of Konkhular.
11. By Broken Road - Now you can listen stories or just fly 69.9 37.9
12. Connection to Ohn'ahra - Get 3 thinks:
- 4 River Reeds from grass River Reeds around river.
- 8 Fowl Tailfeathers get from Jadethroat Mallard You don't need to kill them.
- 1 Salamanther Heart drop from Mudwalker Salamanther is not 100% drop i get after 4 kills.
13. Omens on the Wind - First speak with Ohn Seshteng then place 3 totems.
14. Maruukai - Go to 61.4 39.5 That will finish Storyline and You will unlock Maruuk Centaur Renown.

You really get a sense of what huge turnover this game must have as far as developers and designers. I remember when Cata redid all the quests that were these low drop rates (and stupid, what salamander is not going to have a heart?).

It's like they are incapable of learning from past mistakes, because everyone is new (and incapable of learning).

Fun Fact: Only 1 in 50 salamanders in Ohn'ahran Plains has a heart.
Drop rate is absurdly low.

the drop rate for the heart is so unfunnily bad . its as if each and every patch blizzard seemingly does it on purpose just to vex us doing quests. like jesus christ man fix your effing god damn drop rates across the board. its not funny when youre levlling 15+ alts and this ONE QUEST TAKES OVER 20 MINS.

For some reason, plucking the birds from behind (out of their vision range) doesn't make them mad.
Also, it seem it's 100% drop chance my doing so.

Description

The wind is restless here, <name>. Ohn'ahra is reaching out. I must answer her call. I need reagents for my ritual: reeds from the riverbanks, feathers from the tails of mallards, and the heart of a salamanther. Gather these materials from the river so that I may heed her voice.
