Currently, this is the twink buff, so you don't have to farm the entire renown again. You need to be at renown level 10 with a faction to get a 100% (2x renown income) buff with your twink. If you don't have renown level 10 with all factions, the buff will only apply to these factions for which you have reached it. Once your twink reaches renown level 10, you will no longer gain double renown.

Note that when you get to 20 Renown on main, it doesn't also unlock increased rep up to 20 on the alt -- it only re-boosts the rep up to 10 on the alt!

So to minmax your rep's alt you really have to get to 20 on all factions on main first, otherwise it's just permanently lost rep (for non-repeatable activities).

Ingame description says renown 20 will give your alts 100% bonus up to renown 20 and 200% bonus up to renown 10.

If you are just before a renown stage like 19 and you gain rep, you will get double for the entire rep chunk. So if you're 2499 renown 19 and use a token that gives 500 rep, you're gonna get 1000 rep from it even though after 1 rep you would have lost the buff for that specific faction.

As a vivid rep farmer and getting increasingly tired of having to do the same on alts for profession or cosmetic stuff, this buff is probably one of the best features of Dragonflight. At 20+ for all main factions unlocked, it essentially cuts the rep grind to at least 2/3. Add the Bind on Account tokens to it, and the rep system snowballs into a fast paced grind.

One thing that I noticed is that if you are in the Forbidden Reach, buffed, and you get teleported to a timewalking instance, when you leave the instance and teleport back, the buff is gone. When this happens, I am using my Hearthstone to get to Valdrakken and get the buff again. Does someone else can confirm this?

WARNING: the bug/exploit explained in the spoiler tag below seems to have been stealth fixed for the Niffen and Dream Wardens, but not the base factions: the bonus is removed completely when you reach 11 for the 10.1 and 10.2 reps only to reappear 10 seconds later at 100%. Overall an incredibly lame fix that is detrimental when spamming tokens. Beware and stop once you hit 10+.

There's a pretty influential bug (exploit if you may, if you abuse it intentionally) with this buff: the gained Renown has to be server processed, meaning the change in this buff is delayed.

Ie, if you go above 10 with a 100% bonus, this is still active for ~10 seconds. Annoyingly, you have to wait for the buff to adjust if you don't want to abuse this, which is bad design at best, because it makes sense to save tokens if you're close to 10 or 20. Especially for the instant-use 2500 rep tokens that the World Quest weekly or Niffen campaign give, you can get the buff for a few tokens which is significant. I just blasted an alt to Niffen 20 with some careful planning in week two.

I'm pretty sure Blizzard is aware of this since 10.0 but refuses to change the way the buff works. The best solution would be to apply the bonus up to 25000 or 50000 total rep gained respectively: this way it should be removed immediately and there's no 'just before x level' min-maxing involved either.

What this buff does:

Upon reaching renown 10 on one character with a Dragonflight faction (Dragonscale Expedition, Maruuk Centaur, Iskaara Tuskarr, Valdrakken Accord, Loamm Niffen, or Dream Wardens), all other characters in your account will receive +100% rep, for that same faction, up to renown 10.
Upon reaching renown 20 on one character, your alts receive +200% rep from renown 1-10 and +100% rep from renown 10-20, for that same faction.

This buff stacks with all other reputation buffs. I highly recommend saving up BoA reputation tokens, and using them on alts in combination with this buff and others:

Dreamsurge Learnings (you must be in the current Dreamsurge zone, and this buff must be active): +30%
Forbidden Reach Envoy buff (10.0 factions only): +10%
WHEE! (Darkmoon Faire): +10%
Unburdened/Grim Visage (Requires Hallows End): +10%
The Spirit of Sharing (Requires Pilgrim's Bounty): +10%
WoW Anniversary buff: at least 19%

If used on an alt with renown 1-9, and +200% rep from this buff + Dreamsurge buff + Forbidden Reach buff + DMF buff, your tokens will be worth 3.5x their base value. A 500 rep token then gives 1,750 rep. If you're lucky and can add Pilgrim's Bounty and the WoW Anniversary buff on top of that (they overlap in some years), that can yield ~3.8x the reputation.

For anyone curious about the exact math, here's the effective reputation needed, thanks to this buff:
