There sem to be myriad bugs surrounding the time rifts. I got an encapsulated destiny mid-rift on my dk, and even though I used it the boss at the end had no loot and nothing was mailed to me. In fact, it seemed nobody could loot the boss at the end. I'm not sure what's going on but it definitely seems to be bugged, and I'm having the same issue as the other poster on here where this quest isn't showing up for any of my alts, which is just about unprecedented for something like this. Hopefully Blizzard can patch these issues quickly, as they take a lot of the fun out of stuff like this.

This quest currently doesn't complete if you're in a raid group, which is ridiculous, given the content.

There is something strange happening with this quest and alts. I'm gonna share what my experience has been so far, maybe someone can think of what might be going on.

Last night (July 12th)
I did this quest on my main character, an Alliance Mage.
After that, I logged on to my second character, a Horde Mage, but the quest is not available (running the /script shows "true" like I completed it).

Today (July 13th) I read someone's comment below here mentioning that some alts can see the quest and others don't, so I wanted to try again.
I logged on to a third character, an Alliance Warrior. The quest was there for me to pick up, so I accepted it.
I DID NOT DO THE EVENT YET on the Warrior, and went to a fourth character, an Alliance Hunter.
The quest was not only there, but already picked up. Maybe counting the time I picked it up with my Warrior 5 minutes before? I don't know. I'm completely sure I didn't pick it up or anything on my hunter, as he was standing in the Darkmoon Fair before I logged in.

All of this in US servers.

Will update this after completing it on my Warrior in 10 minutes from now.

UPDATE: My second mage has now gotten the quest (same as my Hunter, it was already picked). Completed a Time Rift and the quest completed.
Now my other alts, Hunter and Warrior DO NOT have the quest (it was removed from my quest log) and the NPC does now show it for me to pick up.
I'm starting to think there might be a cooldown for it, will check later to see if it appears again.

UPDATE 2: 5 minutes before the next Time Rift: my Hunter and my Warrior, both camped next to the NPC, don't have a quest to pick up. Another alt, a Priest, managed to pick up the quest after flying to the zone from Valdrakken...

OK so is there a prerequisite for this quest? Because I turned in Aiding the accord in Valdrakken, and when I go to pick up this quest Soridormi isn't there, and no quest anywhere!

edit: You have to complete the questline in Tyrhold that start with Mara including We Don't Negotiate with Primalists and For the Ward! then you can get the rift Quest. Rifts begin at the beginning of each hour.

Hello , Updating on this bugged quest.
It seems you can complete the quest on your main , then check on witch alts , you can pick it up again , and after that u can complete it on your main again , getting the weekly reward multiple times per week.

Is this quest supposed to be account wide, or is that a bug? It would be pretty ridiculous not to be able to do this quest on each alt each week. We have never had such a restriction on world content (or any content for that matter). Imagine if the Great Vault or something like that was available only once per week per account, LOL.

Edit - this quest is apparently meant to be once per week per account. Anyone who did more than that found a momentary loophole. The game does not immediately mark your other characters as having completed it, so somehow you can do it more than once per account, but it is unclear why that is, and may have been fixed already.

I did my first rift on Wednesday and was surprised to see that my other toons no longer had the quest available. The completion script shows that a bunch of my other toons have completed it when they definitely never did a rift. After some testing, it looks like EVERY toon that I had already logged in with has the quest marked as complete. But all the toons that I had not yet logged in with when I did my first rift on my main toon are still able to get the quest. This has to be bugged.

Having similar issues to other people where some alts aren't getting the quest and some are. So far I have 5 alts I've done rifts on. One did not get the quest. The other 4 did. And that quest makes a huge difference to how quickly you can get the mounts and transmogs as a run without the quest nets (at 8am on a low pop server) about 400 of the currency, vs about 1500 that my other toons have now from the quest rewards.

Edit to add:
I've done or checked 14 alts so far. Varying progress.
8/14 were able to pick up this quest.
6/14 were not. One even saw the ! but when clicked it said "You have already completed this quest" and the quest giver had nothing to give me, yet the ! still remained over her head.

1 of my alts that could get the quest was a brand new 70 who had done absolutely nothing in DF and just hit 70 last week during the TW/Winds week. Yet one that could not is one that I've been periodically running LFR on and has done pieces of the storyline.

Edit 2:
Up to 12 who could do the quest and 11 who could not. I still can't track what the issue is. It's not race specific, class specific or faction specific. I checked on 1 toon sub 70 and she got the quest (she was 69.5). The rest were all level 70.

This is another one of those far too common Blizz quests that are designed on the model 'let's make how to complete this as obscure as possible.' So in order to complete the quest:

1) This requires completing an event that starts at the top of each hour in the valley and arena area immediately to the south-west of the quest giver (Soridormi).

2) DO NOT join a raid group! This quest is not flagged for raiding so you can't complete it while in a raid group. Yes, they will form but those are players who have already completed the quest and are now farming the rewards.

3) Kill mobs pouring through the small rifts during which you'll get 'Reality' reward chests in your inventory.

4) After 10 minutes a large portal will open in the center of the arena. Go through with everyone else and kill the boss.

5) Turn in quest to Soridormi.

6) (optional) Repeat the event to farm additional rewards.

7) Finishing the quest is 'account wide' so your alts will not need to complete the quest, just go through the event in or out of a group.

The "When Time Needs Mending" quest can only be completed once per account per week. It cannot be completed again until after the weekly reset occurs. This is working as intended.

I just read that people are unable to complete this quest across multiple characters more than once per week but I've only done timerift events on one character and I'm still unable to turn this quest in.
I have opened a ticket with Blizz about this so I'll update with more info as/when they respond. =)

Very weird quest with how it works with alts. Done the rift so far once on like 13 alts and probably 5 of those could pick up the quest from Soridormi

For the first time this week, the quest was available for me on a second character after completing it on my main.

Edit: And a third character as well. However it wasn't available on my fourth character and the ones after that.

Start doing the weekly quest When Time Needs Mending as soon as possible to earn enough currency to buy mounts, pets, gear from the Time Rift vendors. Check out the vendors at the Tyrhold Reservoir at the base of a tall temple. (Coords 51, 56)

If you haven’t done a Time Rift event, this is what to expect.

Every time you do a Time Rift event you must report in to event leader Soridormi just after the event is announced. Otherwise you won’t get credit or loot.

Report in by clicking on the Chat option in purple letters that says, "Begin Time Rift. Name reporting for duty".

Pair Aiding the Accord: Time Rift with When Time Needs Mending

If only one character receives Aiding the Accord: Time Rift, that character should do When Time Needs Mending. Accept the quest from Soridormi.

If other characters also receive Aiding the Accord: Time Rift, they can complete the Aiding the Accord quest in the same week they receive it. However, Soridormi won’t offer When Time Needs Mending because only one character per account can do that quest each week.

Characters without quests can still participate in a Time Rift event by reporting in to Soridormi.

How often can characters do a Time Rift?
All characters can do Time Rifts repeatedly in a week. However, When Time Needs Mending can only be completed by one character once a week. Repeating the Time Rifts may result in diminishing rewards. So why bother? Paracausal Flakes currency earned can be transferred between characters. You also have a chance to receive a Dilated Time Capsule (gear token), a piece of gear, transmogs, pets and mounts you would have to buy from vendors. You can also buy account-bound Adventurer-level armor (from 10.2) and gear from Time Rift vendor Shi Everbreeze.

Edit: with the introduction of the Emerald Dream zone in 10.2, gear sold by Shi Everbreeze is now Adventurer-level 10.2 gear. One Dilated Time Capsule buys one piece of gear.

Why do most of my characters see a gray question mark over Soridormi?

As soon as one character has accepted the quest When Time Needs Mending, it goes into the quest log of all characters. All will see a gray question mark over the head of quest giver Soridormi.

Only the character that accepted When Time Needs Mending can delete it from the quest log.
But any character can activate the quest by reporting to Soridormi at the start of the Time Rift event.
After When Time Needs Mending is completed by one character, the quest is no longer available this week. So your other characters will no longer see a gray question mark over Soridormi.

Some report that more than one character has completed When Time Needs Mending in a week. There are differing accounts.

In the Comments many say that multiple characters on their account can access When Time Needs Mending. Others say only one toon on their account can complete the quest. The result is uneven access to the new Paracausal Flakes currency that buys mounts, pets and gear.

Time Rift events can be done without quests by reporting in to Soridormi.

Where and When is the Time Rift Event?

Soridormi is always at the base of a tall temple near a viaduct in the Tyrhold Reservoir area of Thaldraszus (51.1, 57.1)
The quest location is marked by a hunting horn on the map just above Valdrakken. There are so many horns marking community quests, you may have overlooked this one. Mouseover the horn to see how much time is left before the next Time Rift event starts.
Time Rift events run hourly on the hour.

A scenario?

You don't queue up for a Time Rift event. Just show up in Tyrhold Reservoir. When the event is announced, report in to Soridormi by clicking on a chat message.
NEW: Confirming you can now do When Time Needs Mending in a raid group! A raid is helpful if you see few players in your shard at the starting area. (You'll need enough people to kill the final boss.) It makes sense that you'll also get credit for Aiding the Accord: Time Rift in a raid group -- although I haven't tested it yet.
Each raid member must report in to Soridormi.
exxcalibur85 points out that Time Rifts "count as scenario so you can progress for Queuing Spree”.

Do I need to do a storyline first?
No. No rep requirements either. (Disclosure: my characters have access to world quests.)

But, here's another view: smulf says, "If you cannot join Time Rifts with an alt because the world quest doesn't appear for you, make sure to have completed the achievement Just Don't Ask Me to Spell It with at least one of your characters."

Something to try first: If you can't pick up When Time Needs Mending, try running the Time Rift without a quest -- just report in to Soridormi once the event is announced. You won't be missing too many rewards, since When Time Needs Mending is limited to one character per account per week.

The Lore

Soridormi says,
There are trillions and trillions of timeways out there; alternative realities that exist parallel to ours.

Most timeways do not threaten ours...A few timeways, however, stretch perilously close to our own. And when we experience turbulence in our timeline -- as we have in recent days -- the veil between our reality and ancient timeways can wear thin... or tear open.

Timer
There are timers for the Incursion at Tyrhold Reservoir (around 9 minutes) and the boss in the other timeway (around 6 minutes).

The Sequence There are 7 different timeways. Completing all of them grants you the achievement Chronograde Connoisseur.
1	Report in to Soridormi at the start of the Time Rift event by clicking on the chat option that says "Begin Time Rift. Name reporting for Duty." If you don’t report in, you won’t get credit or loot. The area around Soridormi and the vendors is a no-fly zone, so move away to mount up.
2	Defeat invasive creatures from another Timeway that are running around the Tyrhold Reservoir. There is a daily mashup of objectives during the incursion phase -- some old, some new. This keeps it fresh. Some tasks are ill defined the first time(s) you do it. There are several objectives going on at the same time, giving players more space. A title is given to the incursion. Ignore the title and watch the objectives. The objectives will change quickly. Check the mini-map for changing locations. There are individual and group objectives. Group objectives are labelled and involve defeating an elite. In between specific objectives there is a general directive to kill as many intruders as possible. Complete as many as objectives as possible in this phase. You'll earn a box for every 2,500 Temporal Essence. Watch the progress bar:	Box of Tampered Reality is earned at 2,500 Temporal Essence. Contains 50 Paracausal Flakes
Box of Volatile Reality is earned at 5,000 Temporal Essence. Contains 75 Paracausal Flakes
Box of Collapsed Reality is earned at 7,500 Temporal Essence. Contains 100 Paracausal Flakes.

You won't get another objective until you complete the one you have or time runs out on that one. But if you can't get to your next task, you can earn some Temporal Essence by fighting anything.

Mount up as soon as you complete an objective. Mobs can appear at the end of an objective, keeping you in combat and preventing you from flying to your next task. (Ignore if you have a class ability that takes you out of combat.)

Sometimes there is a quest to take a found object to Soridormi. Finding objects is part of the achievement Temporal Acquisitions Specialist. Look for a yellow quest marker close to the ground. An object may be found during the Tyrhold Reservoir phase or after the defeat of the boss inside the Rift.

When the 9 minute timer runs out, Soridormi announces the opening of a Rift to the other timeway.
A large gold portal opens on the round platform in the middle of the Tyrhold Reservoir. Go through it. Your dragonriding mounts are from the future, so use a ground mount.

Soridormi tells us to slay a boss -- the "Fractured Causality".

Return through the portal to the Dragon Isles timeway. You'll end up back at the Tyrhold Reservoir. This completes the Time Rift.

The Time Rift part of Aiding the Accord: Time Rift should now be marked as completed.
If you are also doing When Time Needs Mending, turn it in to Soridormi. Your reward will be a Contained Paracausality.
General rewards for doing a Time Rift include Paracausal Flakes, transmogs, gear tokens and rarely, a pet or mount.

Converting soulbound Paracausal Flakes to account-bound Paracausal Flakes.

The reward currency, Paracausal Flakes, is soulbound but you can get around this:
The Paracausal Cluster containing Paracausal Flakes is account bound until you open it.
Any character can convert soulbound Paracausal Flakes to account bound Paracausal Flakes. Buy a Paracausal Crate containing 500 account bound Paracausal Flakes from Pandaran Time Rift vendor Shi Everbreeze for 500 soulbound Paracausal Flakes. (Coords 51.0, 56.6)

As an alternative, consider having one character do the weekly Time Rift events.

The Time Rift Vendors
There is a vendor for each timeway. They are grouped on the platform to the left of quest giver Soridormi at the base of a tall temple in Tyrhold Reservoir. (Coords 51, 56)
Items sold are account bound, so you can buy for your alts. A Pandaran vendor, Shi Everbreeze, sells armor for one Dilated Time Capsule.

Tasks without clear instructions. There are so many. Here are 4 examples:

Defeat the Rotting Colossus, then send it home.
After you weaken Rotting Colossus, it becomes a vehicle you can control. Just move it to a nearby rift. The Colossus will disappear.

Send the Frozen Heart home.
There is a block of ice containing a small heart. You can't attack it with your weapons. Walk around it until an icon with a kicking foot appears. Kick it towards a portal marked on the mini-map with a yellow dot. Avoid rocks. If the kick icon disappears, walk around the ice block until it reappears.

Soridormi tells you to return to the starting point and catch the sands of time.
Instructions on the screen say: "Fill the hourglass by catching the sand". The hourglass is an object on the ground that resembles an end table. Click on it to open a puzzle.
There are 2 versions: In one version, you click on the yellow blobs that swirl across the screen to fill the hourglass. In the other, there is a red dot in the center of the screen. Click the dot to move the hourglass from left to right to catch sand that falls straight down.

"Resolve the paradox". Return to the starting platform. There are different versions:

"Uncross the timelines". This puzzle of tangled shapes works differently from puzzles in other xpacs. Click only on large blue dots. The objective is to untangle each shape into a straight line that runs horizontally across the screen. One approach is to start by clicking on the highest dot, then clicking on the lowest dot. There are 4 puzzles to do.

Puzzles called "Find the creature from the wrong timeline" and "Find the demons". Check the names of the characters as well as the species. If you don't know, pick anything and keep picking.

There is an easily-missed breadcrumb to this quest starting in the eastern edge of Valdrakken: To Soridormi's Aid. If you care about completing it, be sure to do it before completing a time rift:

Sometimes once, sometimes twice, this week was 3 times!

as a 567 BM I got absolutely pounded. I don't want to go thru that again, But as l look around here, there are so many different experiences. I pay good money for the game, understand there will be glitches, but stull like this. nah.

I have 6 level 70 characters. 1 Main which has most content complete , the rest are just "as needed" since Blizzard hates us having alts. 2 of the 6 characters have gotten the quest weekly. The other 4 don't get it at all. I don't know if there is a certain quest chain that allows the option, but see that it is once per account is odd since everything else is per character. This Rift stuff and Archive stuff is such a chore and bore.

This quest is still account-bound as of the Awakened Aberrus week, it has been changed to per-character as of a recent hotfix and there will be a Cache of Embers inside of the Contained Paracausality rewarded from it from the quest (?)

Turns out you get a Cache from completing the Time Rift, not the quest. Unfortunately, if you did complete a Time Rift prior to the change and received the Dilated Eon Canister, it appears that looting the Cache is tied to looting that item from completion. Therefore, if you completed Time Rifts on characters prior to the change, you did not get a Cache from completing any further Time Rifts.

TLDR: Looting a Cache of the Embers is tied to looting a Dilated Eon Canister from your FIRST TIME RIFT OF THE WEEK.

There is some very strange behaviour with this quest for alts.

I completed this quest on 5 separate characters one after the other (over several hours ofc) and assumed the once-a-week-per-account restriction had been removed because it was "Awakened".

Then suddenly, on my 6th character, it was no longer available. It was also not available on my 7th and 8th characters. I assumed there was a hotfix, or it was just a generally buggy quest.

It was annoying as the 480 item level gear does not come from completing the rift itself, but completing this weekly quest, so basically all my remaining alts would miss out on a piece of 480 gear.

But then... it was available on my 9th character. It was also available on my 10th-13th characters.

After reading some other comments, I'm going to speculate this is how it currently works - After completing the quest on your account for the first time that reset, this quest will then only be available for alts the first time you log in for the week, and will disappear for that character if you log out before completing it. This makes sense as my 6th, 7th and 8th characters I had logged into before attempting the rift quest to send some enchants around, but the other characters where the quest was available were my first login of the week.

Regardless of how it's supposed to work, it's definitely buggy and not working as intended, but if you want to complete the quest and obtain the 480 item level gear on an alt this week, only log in on the character for the first time that week when you're ready to complete the quest, and ensure you complete it before logging out.
