Lord Vincent Godfrey is a renegade nobleman from Gilneas who opposed his king, Genn Greymane, after discovering that he and many of his people had been afflicted with the worgen curse. After committing suicide rather than acknowledge a worgen as his lord, Godfrey's body was recovered and reanimated by the Forsaken, but after turning on them as well, he fled into the abandoned ruins of Shadowfang Keep, where he and his followers remain. Taken from Wowwiki, but on my note apparently he is now the final boss in Shadowfang Keep which replaces the old boss Archmage Arugal, in which Arugal is no longer a boss in Shadowfang Keep, but his legacy will remain, as worgen death knights are said to be former servants of Arugal who escaped from Shadowfang and later became minions of the Lich King. Very interesting!

This achievement is relatively straight forward. Throughout the fight, Lord Godfrey will constantly summon a group of Bloodthirsty Ghouls. Immediately after he channels this ability, he will perform the Pistol Barrage ability which will almost instantly kill any Ghoul unfortunate enough to be in front of him. Have your tank taunt and blow a cooldown and kill two complete sets of Ghouls. Once you have killed 12, simply kill the boss and earn your easy achievement!

This Achievement is very easily done with a Protection warrior.

Tank Godfrey as you normally would, facing away from the group. Wait until he has just begin casting bullet time and then run behind him and shockwave all the ghouls that are still emerging from the ground in front of him.He will only kill Three or Four at a time, but due to the length of the fight (considering only mixed pieces of heroic gear) he should easily kill twelve by the time you kill him.

This will save your group (more specifically your healer) a lot of headaches and make this quite a joke.

An easy way to do this with any classes is to tank him on the lower level in the middle of the room facing away from the rest of the group.

When the adds spawn the tank hits them once and then runs to the wall where the boss is facing. This will out-range the pistol barrage so the tank won't take much damage and it will cause all of the adds to start walking towards the tank and walk straight into pistol barrage.

Easy achievement.

Just a small note, you do actually need to KILL the boss in order to get the achievment.
We had around 30 ghouls killed when someone noticed that.

This ones actually super simple.

Range / Healers - stand on the stairs you first walk in on.
Tank - tanks boss at the bottom of the stairs of the platform the boss starts on. The key part is to face him facing the bottom of the staircase that leads to your range/healer.

Whenever the boss pops out the adds, right after he will start his pistol barrage. The tank steps to the backside or side, and all dps remains on the boss. The adds will aggro to the healer forcing them to run up the stairs. The bosses barrage will take them out as they attempt. Rinse and repeat.

This achievement is *!@#ing buggy now, the ghouls don't get any damage from pistol barrage since this hotfix yesterday. I hope it will be fixed very fast (like some other things that don't work since yesterday, too), this is the last achievement for me to get the mount...

This achievement is indeed very buggy (23 Dec 2010) right now, we got it today, but we had to reset the boss 4 times before the barrage actually damaged the ghouls. My advice is to keep trying, we were on the brink of saying "^&*! it we'll come back another time" and on the next try it worked.

We did this achievement simply and easily with me as a DK Tank. Just as he begins to summon Bloodthirsty Ghouls, throw down a DnD and start walking backwards. Pop a cd to deal with pistol barrage, and the ghouls will chase you and be gunned down. You only have to do this twice, but we did it for three rounds of ghouls just to be safe. Good luck!

This achievement is so buggy. It took us 5 attempts until he finally could damage the adds, but once he did it was cake.

Not sure if this is what caused us to have problems, and then on the next pull have him kill adds easily, but our second pull, we made sure he was on the floor, not the first step, so that the ghouls were on the same vertical plane as the pistol barrage. Used djcloudnine's strategy above.

Easy way to do this:

When you enter Godfrey's room, you can jump across from the top of the entry stair to the platform that Godfrey is on. Tank and melee DPS jumps across here. Ranged DPS and healer stay at the top of the entry stair. Godfrey will aggro immediately. He should be tanked on the small triangle of platform that you jumped across to, with his back to healer/ranged. All ghouls will spawn behind the tank and you will not have to worry about them at all, as pistol barrage will take care of them for you.

I'm not sure if the behavior has changed since some of these comments, but I did this tonight with no trouble at all. Godfrey was tanked in the middle of the room, and when adds were summoned I picked them up and stood off to the side, slightly in front of him. Once he started shooting, I simply ran through the bullets to his other side, kiting all of the adds through the cone. If any were missed, one more pass through the cone took care of them. I had ample time to do this with each cast of Pistol Barrage.

Patch 4.0.6, the fight i the same, however the boss turns to a random member during pistol barrage (apparently, I was told that the patch notes stated this). On top of that he also rotates during pistol barrage, so root n kill won't work as perfectly as it did.

However it can still work like a charm: have everybody stacking on the tank, and root the ghouls for pistol barrage. Endure it using cooldowns then once they died run out of barrage. Continue this, and the achievement is still just as jokey as it always has been :)

Got this with a crap tank PUG... He couldnt keep aggro on Adds... i ended up with aggro as a paladin healer. I pick up all adds... Pistol Barrage Time! I bubble and Pewpew go the Adds... :P

did it today in the following way

Tank the boss as normal but instead of the tank running out of the barrage run into it with the ghouls following, tank or healer can pop a cd to make it not hurt as much (tank survived one without cd's but i wouldnt recommend it).

Not sure if this is always the case but he summoned the ghouls then started casting pistol barrage before they had fully spawned, a quick aoe from the tank while they are coming up from the ground should get aggro.

Couple of dps died due not knowing about the patch change pistol barrage random targeting but fairly straight forward.

When I attempted to get this achievement, my party learned that neither us nor the ghouls were getting hit by the barrage. Ever.

After a while, we had a lucky moment in which we stunned the adds directly below the boss. He killed them all.
On the second wave we repeated this and he again tore them apart.
So there you go, I hope this helps people!

The encounter appears to be bugged, with Godfrey doing no damage sometimes. It might have to do with where he's positioned, but we had a string of 4 attempts with no ghoul or party damage from bullets. We did discover that you could down the ghouls yourself (Aoe, etc) and if they were in the bullet stream, you'd still get credit.

Pretty simple achievement, as a prot warrior I just TC'd the ghouls so they'd aggro onto me and no other party members hit them. When bullet barage popped I ran thru the small part and all 6 ghouls went down. Did that twice finished him off and we all walked away with a shiny new achievement.

Actually, as I got 9\12 the other time, I'm just going to try now, but as far as I know this should be a cumulative achievement, because it says the ability had to kill 12 adds, not 12 adds during a single encounter; anyway I'll do a try right now and edit with the result.

Tried, and nothing, at the start of the fight it reset to 0\12.

So it's required to kill all 12 in a single encounter, but it's nothing hard, just don't dps the boss too much till he uses it, don't touch the adds, and 4-5 will easily be killed by his pistol barrage each time he casts it.

This achievement appears to be bugged currently (5.1) in such a way that allows you to complete it over multiple encounters. In our 2-man group with a hunter and a priest, we followed the usual strategy to kill the 12 ghouls, but after the achievement tracker reached 12/12, we made a mistake and wiped. However, after running back, our progress bar still said 12/12, and only that we needed to defeat Lord Godfrey. After killing him on our next attempt (ignoring the ghouls), we were awarded the achievement.

Solo lvl 90 Hunter / Patch 5.3

Engage the boss with minimal DPS, wait until ghouls spawn, when he cast the pistol barrage, drag the ghouls in it... That's it!

The only "challenge" as a 90 is to not kill the boss in 10 seconds!

As of 6.0.3 this is very easy to complete.
For pet classes leave your pet on Passive otherwise it will kill the ghouls or the boss.
Simply pull the boss, let the Bloodthirsty Ghoul get up, stay in front of Pistol Barrage and they'll drop like flies, you get 6 ghouls at a time so let him kill the first 6 and then wait for the next 6, he may miss a couple depending on how long the ghouls take to get to you.
Self healing abilities may be needed, I had spirit bond with my pet so didn't need to do anything.

L100 solo version: Aggro the boss. Wait for the ghouls to be generated, run a few circles around him, and when he starts his pistol barrage, run around directly in line with it - the ghouls will follow you. Assuming you've got at least mid-600 armour on, you should suffer minimal to no significant damage from this, and the ghouls will be mowed down.

(I did this using 670-something Balance Druid gear, and never saw my health bar twitch.)

Counting ghouls is another matter.

Very easy to solo. No need to clump them in any specific location, the boss just sort of does it all for you. I just ran in and aggroed the boss, waited for the Bloodthirsty Ghouls to spawn and moved a few steps away from the boss. The barrage took the Ghouls down immediately. I waited until the counter ran up to 12 and then took out the boss. Nothin' to it.

Surprisingly easy compared to some of the other achievements.

Simply walk up to boss so that the boss is agro'd. Or taunt it if you will. No need to hit it until the achievement is complete.
Take the boss down the stairs where there's more space.
Then stand still and let the achievement complete itself.

There isn't even a need to 'tag' the mobs like you do in some other achievements nor is there any problems like mobs not registering as killed by the boss. I completed it first time in about 45 seconds.

Really easy.

1. Pull the boss with a non damaging ability or spell or by standing in him.
2. Go to the downstairs area
3. Wait for him to cast Summon Bloodthirsty Ghouls
4. Wait for him to start casting Pistol Barrage
5. Take 3-4 steps back so you're in a wider area of the cone
6. The Bloodthirsty Ghoul will funnel into the pistol barrage and die instantly.

6 Ghouls per wave, so you need to do this twice. Track the achievment and do a third time for good measure if necessary.

You don't need to do any damage to him at all to get this achievement. I soloed as a level 60 mage in Shadowlands. I just aggroed him and waited for him to summon his minions, and then made those minions stand in front of him during his barrage. It took a couple summons to get the achievement. After I got the achievement, then I killed him.
