Just saw, took a selfie and killed at 4pm server time/California time on Proudmoore US he is pretty fast and sticks out since he is the only pink tallstrider

Has anyone tried killing the regular hornstriders along this path to spawn him? Curious if it's one of those rares that you have to "spawn" by killing similar mobs in the area

After a few days of looking for this rare I finally managed to get him today. He spawned just above the Ohn'iri Springs on the map where the pack of Feral Bakar hang out (Coordinates 60, 72) and then headed East.
Killing Striders in the area doesn't seem to make a difference.

So just curious... If a hunter tames him and you take a pic with S.E.L.F.I.E. camera of the tamed hunter pet, do you get credit for the achiv?

She spawned near 57, 73 for me.

I was testing out Lizi's Reins and she spawned right in front of me.

This might sound crazy but i waited hours and hours for this guy. Finally spawned at 7:11

For hours and hours over a few days i had just been camping the spawn.

I saw the comment about killing the other striders to summon him cause they "call for help" i did this a few times but nothing happened.

Eventually i came across a mob of the striders feasting on a corpse of a dead pinehoof/cliffhoof ( you can find them at 64 70)

So i had the bright idea of having a pinehoof cow and bull massacre since clearly they liked eating them.

So i went to the spawn place of nergazurai (around 58 72) and gathered up and killed about 16 of the pinehoofs and Nerg spawned and i got my pic. Maybe he shares the spawn with them, maybe the murdering of them cause the spawn, or maybe it was just random dumb luck.

I have NO idea if this is related or just dumb coincidence. But worth a try.

I found him after 5 hours of camping, here's the information I can share:

As others pointed out, he spawned just North of Ohn'iri Hotsprings.
I was standing at 58.4, 74.7 looking to the West, had a view of the springs and was surrounded by 5 bakar.
He does his route counterclockwise, so his initial path is along the southern ridge.
He's hostile, so when in range, he will attack you.
The area is quite silent and there are no patrols near the point mentioned.

The "tactic" I followed:

Stand in the indicated point /way #2023 58.4 75.7 Nergazurai
Raise volume and disable the music
Have RareScanner or any similar addon of your choice (it's not needed but better safe than sorry)
Have DBM-LogoutTimer or any similar addon of your choice to prevent logging off
Set a reminder to take the picture. I set the secondary action bar (that one you swap with the arrows) and filled it with S.E.L.F.I.E. Camera MkII.
Do something else, except if you hear an old god whispering (logoff timer), drums (RareScanner), or a horrible bird screech.

What I can't tell is if it shows on mini map or not, since he got killed pretty quick while I was announcing in /general. I did not do realm hop and I was reluctant to do so.

So I camped him for several hours and flew over the area expecting him to be a flyer. He's flightless.... When he spawned, the spouse was in a dungeon, so I started frost-trapping it instead. He doesn't drop anything worthwhile anyway... So kept trapping him, and after about 30 minutes, spouse and others got there, and another few minutes after they got it, he despawned. My guess is that he was up from 9-9:30pm server time, then goes away for a while... I think the best advice from one Gwez. Just stand there. He moves fast, and people don't seem to see him real easy. Just stay there, drop a frost trap if you can, but otherwise just intercept him as he pats.

Remember, he doesn't drop anything worthwhile, and isn't needed for Adventurer, so no need to kill him. Good luck!

Pro tip: This week Strunraan world boss is up in Ohn'ahran Plains. I joined the raids until I found a low pop server, on which Nergazurai was up and I was able to tame her :)
I bet this method is good for the achievment aswell, since you can get credit for it even in a raid. GL everyone!

Waited for roughly an hour fourty minutes at 48 75 and it spawned somewhere else. Someone warned me, luckily.

Just got this one as my last for "thats pretty neat", been on the look out for quite a while. One thing to point out that i didn't really see in other comments was how fast this guy runs around, you could quite easily miss him best to look at his running route closely and make sure you follow it, he didn't show up on either my main map or the mini map, so if you're expecting to just fly over high and see if he'll show up on the mini map, then you're not gunna see him, i duont know about addons as i don't use them, but yeah.
-Look at his running path carefully
-Fly low / run in a clockwise direction at the big southern loop
-Look carefully at the animals actually on the ground, don't rely on your mini map.

I finally got this rare, after several days trying to camp - 5 sessions, of 3-4 hours each.

Tips: none really. This is simply a 4+ hour respawn rare, and none of the proposed tricks on this page worked for me (killing pinehoofs and hornstriders). My rarescanner addon also did not pick up the rare, but it seems to work for other people. Luckily, I was using a /tar macro also.

If you are having troubles finding him and don't want to camp, he spawns on server reset. I waited till reset and then when the servers came up immediately started looking. He runs around very fast so might be far away from his spawn point if you don't notice the servers are up straight away.

Saw him spawn today 3/31/23 at 18:33:26 on NA cenarius. was sitting there since 11:30. finally got the photo

So, before the latest patch content, I was bored and decided to complete the That's Pretty Neat achievement. Took me 2-3 days on and off getting the various selfies all except for Nerg. Three weeks, I murdered innocent cows, mowed down the striders and thinned out the wolves around his spawn area. I waited. And waited.

I even logged in an alt to do the quest of the same name (as I had already completed it on my main) in the hope it would trigger his spawn. I waited for server resets; I joined other people's groups on other servers; all to no avail.

He remained elusive.

Then I decided to raise a ticket with the support team. I popped in the title of the achievement and stated the above in the ticket. As I clicked on completed. BAM - Rarefinder went nuts and he spawned in front of me. The ticket I raised also miraculously disappeared. So, it would seem they have a script that automates his spawning on a support ticket raised. Thought this may be useful for the late comers to the achievement that are putting off raising a ticket due to not wanting to bother support.

FYI for everyone camping him at 58, 74 waiting for Rarescanner to fire. I did this for several days also.

Today, I flew over him at low speed (60, 71 towards the end of his loop) and Rarescanner did NOT fire. Luckily his color is different than the other mobs in the area and I caught him for the That's Pretty Neat! achievement.

Spawned twenty minutes after server reset. If this NPC is anything like others in the past, killing a certain number of tallstriders that yell for help might be the trigger. Seemed to work for me. RareScanner did NOT work at all. Zero notification on spawn or mouseover.

Been camping him for a few days on and off and did what the other comments said went around and killed the striders in his running zone and he immediately spawned

If your flying in search of the spawn, the below macro might help. You can add it to dragon flight bar.
It will target mob, make sound, and mark as star. Rare scanning addons just didn't pick it up, I had to use this instead.

This mob and the quest that mentions it are very likely a rip-off of Mazzranache and Mazzranache respectively. Right down to requiring the same general kinds of reagants from the wildlife.

Just found this guy finally after camping multiple days in a row. He did not trigger my rare scanner I just happen to look up and he was sprinting down the hill. Fast little booger.

I love birds. Finally got my Divine Kiss of Ohn'ara tonight, and I knew the next thing on my list HAD to be the Birdwatcher title. I blanched when I saw how long some people waited for Nergazurai to show up. I reminded myself that I've camped rares for months before, what's a couple of hours in comparison? So I plunked myself down and activated my S.E.L.F.I.E., leaving a finger on "1" so I could hit the button at a moment's notice. Yup... I was going to stare at the screen with my finger on the button for hours.

Turns out to be a good thing I was ready because just TWO MINUTES LATER Nergazurai ran by and he didn't trigger ANY of my rare finder add-ons.
