Step 1: Get the fire charge from the red crystal then drop Myrrit on the pressure plate under the other (blue) crystal. Now you can walk over to the frost key and pick it up. Stuns do not keep you from finishing either step. Go back to Myrrit

Step 2: Get the frost charge from the blue crystal then drop Myrrit on the pressure plate under the red crystal. Now you can walk over to the fire key and pick it up.

(These steps can be done in either order)

Step 3: Use the action button to combine the keys. Go to the chest and open it.

1. No digging - just walking with Myrrit around
2. Put Myrrit on the pressure plate under one of the crystals (Key number 4 in the interface)
3. Click the other crystall to get the opposite buff
4. Go to the other side of the room and get the glittering key (you need frost buff for fire and fire buff for frost)
5. Take Myrrit (click him) and put him on the other plate (key 4)
6. Get the other buff by clicking the other crystal
7. Get the next key
8. Click extra button to create key
9. Open chest
10. Be happy :-)

Follow steps described in other comments.

However, you might find keys are not interactable.
To fix it, you have to take opposite buff of each key:

For Fire key, first put Myrrit on frost plate, then take the frost buff, then move Myrrit to the fire plate. At that point, you should be able to interact with the fire key.
For Frost key, first put Myrrit on fire plate, then take the fire buff, then move Myrrit to the frost plate. At that point, you should be able to interact with the frost key.

I'm not sure if this design intent or a bug.

When doing this puzzle, I missed the fact that the pressure plates and the gems above them were separate entities. The push plates are for Myrrit , and the gems are clickable for you.
All you need to do is click the gem Myrrit isn't under to get the buff, collect the key, then swap plates/gems. Rinse and repeat.

Bugged. Once I got the Fire Key, the Frost Key was not interactable for me. I tried everything suggested above and nothing make the Frost Key available to click. I also tried dropping the Fire Key, going back to the surface, and starting over. No luck.

Once you open the chest, have Myrrit sniff nearby for a Treasurewhiskers (YMMV but worked for me 2x).

Well if you're like me and go to play a druid alt, you need to remember to not shapeshift after placing dow Myrrit. otherwise they follow you and get off the pressure plate. I'm so tired of quests not allowing a druid to interact while in cat form.

I did this over and over ad nauseum, got each key back and forth clicked globe - nada. abandoning.

I have a different bug I haven't seen mentioned here. I'll update if I fix it or get a message back from a GM.

Once in the cave I have the chest, the 2 buff charges, the neutralizing charge, and nothing else. No obstacles, no keys.

I left the cave and re-entered, and tried to relog completely, but no change. I also tried using the buffs, running around, using the interact key, etc., but nothing happens, it's just an empty room.

Bugged as of January 2nd, 2024. I successfully obtained the Flame-Engulfed Key Fragment, but when I tried to get the Frost-Encased Key Fragment, Myrrit left the pressure plate as soon as I entered the circular room, despawning both the traps and the key. I have submitted a bug report.
