Larodar is defeated by killing the squiggly fire tentacles...not by hitting him directly.

When you spawn in you will see Larodar with 4 tentacles surrounding him. Once the last tentacle is killed everything despawns and looks super weird. This confused me because I didn't get quest credit after casting on Larodar. You have to actually kill the tentacles and not the main mob itself. Don't worry if everything despawned before you got credit! He will respawn along with his four tentacles within 1 minute. Just kill the tentacles and you complete the quest.

should have come here first. Saw that he's a boss but thought that he'd somehow be doable. Almost died before getting away. But now tentacles have despawned and not coming back. Looks like abandon and retake. Poorly planned quest.

Nearly impossible for anyone just hitting 70 and not geared. Do not attempt unless in a group if your gear is in the low 300s.

There are several adds on top of the direct damage AND all of the AOEs.

If you move out of range and the tentacles despawn, there is no way to complete the quest. Jump off the cliff and find your corpse a decade later. (Hyperbole)

Blizzard needs to do better.

Ludicrous mechanics to solo if levelling. Constant adds spawning, just can't catch a break.

Keep moving to avoid the ground aoe and kite the adds, damage the tentacles as you go and wear them down. It's slow but doable.

I found the best thing to do is when the seed lands to just stand there and take the root. It seems that when you do that the add wont spawn. so then its just the 4 tentacles.

For ranged DPS'ers:

1) Find a spot to stand outside of the fire pools. They extend out from the boss and do not rotate.
2) Stand still and ignore the plant attack.
3) DPS down the tentacles. Ignore Larodar.
4) Win.

As Melee:

come from the corners, nail only one giant fire tentacle at a time.

ideally have a trink that does some range, talents that make your melee have a little bit of range, crit runes, maybe something defensive.
